What Version of Lacerte® am I Running? How Do I Update it to the Latest Release?

Article Post Date
February 6th 2012 by

We’re always working to improve your Lacerte® Tax Software. Throughout the year, we issue several update releases that you will need to download and install to your computer, so that you can have the latest, greatest tax information to help ensure the most accurate returns.

Below are some simple instructions you can follow to determine what version of Lacerte you have installed and how to update your software.

*Note: Please note that these instructions are for customers who have already purchased and installed the most current tax year release. Do not follow these instructions to renew your software. To renew, visit www.lacertesoftware.com/renew.

Determining what version of Lacerte Tax Software you installed:

To check what version of you installed, press the F10 key on your keyboard and click on the Versions tab. In the screen that appears (see screenshot below) you will see the current version you have installed for all of the Operator, Federal and State programs you purchased.

Updating your Lacerte software:

If an update to your Lacerte Tax software is available, you will see the words “Update available” under the “Status” section in your “Lacerte Updates” window. To update, simply click the “Update” button in that window. This will download and install the latest updates to your software.

Checking release dates for specific tax forms in Lacerte:

To find out information on the status or release dates for specific forms in Lacerte, click on the Forms tab from within your Lacerte program. To view a particular form, select the form or schedule under the Form window on the left part of the screen. If you do not see the form, select the Show All box to see all forms.  The link, “Click for Form Status Details,” will appear at the top left of forms that are not final.
